“Hidden Treasure” invited the community of Last Chance in rural, eastern Colorado to find a hidden treasure. A treasure map was posted where community members receive mail. A token treasure (ironic black ceramic poodle) was located at the site of the Last Chance Fire 2012 where 50,000 acres were devastated. The “X” marked the spot of the token treasure with an accompaning invitation to bring the token to the M12 Gallery space in nearby Byers. The intent was for the treasure hunt to catalyze dialogue between the artist and local residents about the valuable land resource at the treasure site.
